i am truly shocked,

that someone still is not understanding the click through link concept.

I KIND OF FEEL LIKE I’M GOING TO THROW UP.

How the fuck does someone not get that. People seriously baffle me to no end sometimes.

i fucking know.

i have had someone reblog almost everything i post and correct me by putting the artist’s name in the caption. if people are that curious to know, they’ll click the picture. i mean it’s as fucking plain as day on the upload page. idek.

I guess you might be referring to me, so I just want to point out that I DO get the click through link concept and often use it when I post pictures myself. Me putting the artist’s name in the caption was not in fact a way of “correcting” you, it was simply a way to make it easier for me to search through my own reblogs. I’m sorry that you took it that way, I didn’t mean to offend anyone or alter your posts in a fashion undesirable to you. If you should want the “correction” removed, sure, I could do that too. That said, I just want to say I like your tumblr and you post some pretty neat stuff. And also that I’m sorry that me doing this kind of made you feel like throwing up. It was not what I intended to do…

I’m really interested to know why the addition to the post on reblog has elicited such a strong response… Especially because i find myself doing it with the few posts i reblog.

I follow both of your excellent blogs, but I consume posts for the great blogs i follow primarily through my dashboard - and i imagine many others do as well. With hundreds of posts a day, why is it such a bad thing to provide readers with key information like the artist’s or source name as a caption without requiring they take the step to click through? Yes, funneling traffic to the source is great, but i make a note of the submissions i’m very interested in for later review, not necessarily clicking through each time.

I kind of consider the caption field an opportunity to add, contextualise, ruminate, waffle, whatever, and i try to credit wherever possible with a hyperlinked artist name as that’s the best SEO practice for the source.

Perhaps it’s the volume of reblogs you found offensive? The implicit judgement on accuracy?

I hope i’m not offending by weighing in.
