Detail of preparatory drawing for Salvatore Mundi (Saviour of the World), Oil on Wood, Albrecht Dürer.
I first saw Albrecht Dürer’s work at the Museum Boijmans in Rotterdam last year as part of their stunning collection of drawings and prints from the Middle Ages to date, and was blown away by the incredible draughtsmanship on display.
His work is also on show at the newly opened Victoria & Albert museum extension, and I have since learned that in addition to his drawings, he was a reknowned painter, engraver, printmaker and theorist and is considered a key figure in the Rennaisance.
